(The Woodlands, TX January 12, 2022)– You have seen the billboards about attorneys urging immediate calls to help you get money for an injury sustained in a car accident or work-related injury. But to ensure you get effective representation, it is important to research attorneys before hiring them.

The best place to start is by checking for board certification. The Texas Board of Legal Specialization certifies attorneys in specific practice areas, including Personal Injury Trial Law, if they demonstrate expertise through experience and detailed written examinations. Unfortunately, only 3% of attorneys are board certified. When your life is changed by a devastating accident due to negligence of a vehicle accident, medical procedure, and unsafe public area, a sports accident due to unreliable equipment, or an unsafe work environment it is important to hold the responsible party accountable for medical bills, change of lifestyle, or loss of income.

Personal injury is defined as any accident, illness, or trauma that affects the physical or psychological wellbeing of an individual after the injury. The monetary award granted by courts is based on seriousness of the traumatic injury. A personal injury attorney can give an estimate of the claim based on their experience.

How do you know if a personal injury attorney is trustworthy and will provide you accurate information? Look for information from reviews and their accreditations on their website. Verify the accreditations with the business they came from to ensure they are still valid and have not been revoked. Ask friends who they may recommend, then make an appointment to speak to the recommended attorney. An experienced personal injury attorney will provide a free initial consultation with payment due through an agreement contingency fee based on award granted by courts. The attorney should have trial experience and be able to give an estimate of the court process pertinent to your specific claim.

Wham & Rogers, PLLC is a family-based local firm with attorneys Mark Wham, Rene Rogers, and Ryan Wham in The Woodlands, Texas. No one knows Montgomery County residents better than those that live here. Together they offer more than 60 years of combined legal experience assisting injured victims and bereaved families throughout the community. Mark Wham was board certified in personal injury in 1994 and is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell's Attorney Peer Rating review, the highest possible rating as to both Legal Ability and Ethical Standards. He is one of the 1% of attorneys who is a Life Member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

Rene Rogers, wife of Mark Wham, has extensive jury trial experience in both commercial and personal injury cases as well as business litigation, deceptive trade practices, real estate litigation. She has also rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell's Attorney Peer Rating review for over 20 years.

Rene and Mark are parents to Ryan who is an associate of the firm and a graduate of the university of Texas Law School. Prior to joining the family firm Ryan Wham worked at one of the world’s largest law firms litigating complex disputes both in U.S. Courts and international arbitration.

"I’m excited to join the firm, both for the opportunity to practice with my parents and to move from representing corporations to helping individuals and small businesses’, said Ryan Wham.

Rene is glad to have Ryan working the family business.  "We are so excited to have Ryan return to The Woodlands to join our firm. He has been a real asset to our practice."

Conroe, Texas (January 4, 2022) Brian Cain is seeking the office of Judge for County Court of Law 1 in Montgomery County after serving 12 years as a litigator in criminal defense cases, family issues-including divorce, child custody, adoptions, probate, and wills, and civil law cases. He routinely manages felonies and misdemeanor cases as a contracted attorney or by appointment by the court for indigent cases.

As a licensed attorney with his own practice, Griffin & Cain in Conroe, his cases have taken him to Waller, Walker, San Jacinto, Polk, Liberty, Grimes, Harris, Ft. Bend, Brazoria Counties, and faraway towns including Limestone, Lee, Rockwall, Midland, and Travis.

“I feel I am most qualified based on the diversity of cases I have experienced to oversee many types of cases to speed up the flow of the docket,” said candidate Brian Cain. “I am aware of the effects that court judgments in one area of the law have in other areas. In this I do not simply mean in theory. My clients have experienced these effects and I have had to help them with those difficulties, or had their case benefitted by a positive outcome.”

“The current judge of County Court at Law No. 1, Judge Dennis Watson, has had both family and criminal cases docketed in his court. Currently it only has misdemeanors on its dockets. However, a court such as this should have a judge who can change the cases on the dockets to meet the needs of the community it serves. A fast-growing community like ours may need the dockets in County Court at Law No. 1 to change to make the best use of the resources given to our judicial system. A judge with my kind of experience would be well-suited to making those changes.”

Cain graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with a bachelor’s degree in history and religious studies. Towards the end of his undergraduate studies, he was mentoring to become an Episcopal priest. This was not the best use of his gifts, so he continued his education to receive a master’s degree in history from Texas State University with the hopes of becoming a historian or a professor. His destiny was as an attorney using his gifts of remembering details as a historian and actively listening as a prospective priest with empathy. He received his professional degree in law from the Seton Hall University via a scholarship.

A judge should be studious and constantly learning to keep up with the ever-changing nuances of the law. A judge should also back up his or her convictions with a powerful sense of exactly how his or her rulings will really affect the litigants before the court. These principles and my background make the best candidate for the position I am seeking as judge.”

Cain has been involved in the community prior to the election season as a member of The Woodlands Rotary Club and the Montgomery County Bar Association where he was Treasurer for three years. He is currently a member of the Montgomery Area Chamber, the Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber, the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber, The Woodlands Area Chamber, and the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce as well as the Kiwanis Club of The Woodlands.

Brian Cain is a native 4th generation Texan raised in the Greater Houston area, father of two daughters (Abby and Eleanor) a devoted husband to wife Katie for 17 years and sings in the choir at Trinity Episcopal Church in The Woodlands. Brian directed the choir in college while accompanying on guitar. He is also involved in a weekly Toastmasters group to sharpen communication.

As Judge for County Court of Law 1, Brian Cain will be committed to:

  • Strengthening the legal system in his court
  • Using our court resources to the fullest by hearing multiple docket types-criminal, civil, family
  • Directly impacting the outcome of someone’s life by alleviating the stress of prolonged litigation with closure

Learn more about Brian Cain candidate for Judge in County Court of Law 1 by attending her Campaign Fundraiser Wednesday, January 19 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Honor Café, 103 N. Thompson in Conroe. The Woodlands, TX (May 5, 2021) –The traditional experience of planning for your future can be a very boring experience that none of us relish doing. David W. Weygandt of Weygandt Law is nothing like the traditional and stereotypical attorney you may have met somewhere in life. David embraced his background and is changing the legal landscape–one client at a time.

In The Woodlands, David is commonly known as “The Singing Lawyer,” a moniker first coined by his late-grandfather, Bill Weygandt. He received his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude (with high honors/top 10%) from South Texas College of Law in Downtown Houston. As a professional trained singing actor, David sings professionally and at community events, and continues to maintain a small piano & voice studio in The Woodlands. David received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Eastman School of Music in upstate New York. If you attend any Chamber event, you may hear David bust out in song to promote his law firm instead of a delivering the typical 60 second commercial. What is most interesting is that he typically changes the lyrics to a commonly known song, and rarely recycles creative material.

David’s firm, Weygandt Law, focuses on providing excellent and cost-conscious proactive legal planning to families and business owners, as trusted advisors, and as zealous advocates, when necessary. The firm handles estate planning (including special needs and asset protection planning), business planning (including entity formation, contracts/agreements, hiring & firing, intellectual property protection, and outsourced corporate counsel services), probate & estate administration, and civil litigation (resolving personal & business disputes).

Estate Planning

His specialty in the community is his entertaining approach of educating how to keep your family “in tune” so you can have peace of mind. You have an opportunity to taste some wine (or whiskey) as a prelude to the interactive presentation, which is designed to help you plan for the inevitable.

Weygandt Law’s “Wine & Wills” (and “Wills & Whiskey”), entertaining & educational workshops, are offered monthly in The Woodlands. Seating is limited so RSVP is required online at www.WeyLaw.com/workshops

“Our approach allows people to ask those thought provoking questions in a low pressure and informal atmosphere. It is easier to consider serious matters while sipping on an adult beverage. Most people do not enjoy pondering questions like, what happens if you die without a will? What will happen to my children if something happens to me? Why an estate plan is important, even if you don’t have many assets?”

Business Planning

“I believe the onslaught of free and low cost online-based legal services and the unlicensed ‘keyboard warrior experts’ on social media have created huge risks for entrepreneurs and small business owners. If entrepreneurs use these free (or low -cost solutions), they think they are protected–in many circumstances with a false sense of security. Eventually they will likely learn that the cost of speaking and working with a local attorney is vastly cheaper in comparison. I’m trying to make it a no brainer to build a relationship with a local attorney,” said Weygandt.

David believes in protecting entrepreneurs and small business owners so much, he is currently filing LLCs for FREE if you: (1) take care of the filing fees (just like the other guys); and (2) schedule & attend a Foundation Session. David loves arming business owners with information about what can happen if you are not proactive with your business planning.

This education is so essential to the attorney-client relationship at Weygandt Law that the foundation session is a complimentary private conversation (60 minutes:35–45-minute personalized presentation plus an additional 15 minutes for Q&A). The Foundation Session is dedicated to walking through the most common legal building blocks, how they may be used to proactively protect you and your business and finding ways to help make your business become more efficient, profitable, or valuable for the long-term.

“I like to call it a legacy life plan, because it needs to be reviewed regularly (and changed if necessary) as you move through life. The more the merrier, I have found that those that attend Wine and Wills or (Whiskey and Wills) with friends, their spouse or a family member have a lot more fun. And attending W&W is less stressful than any typical meetings with a lawyer. Come to learn and have fun, and you’ll leave with more knowledge about what you need to do to protect your family (or your business),” said Weygandt.

“Music is the universal language of mankind.”

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Keep your family in tune by planning your legacy at Weygandt Law!

Ribbon Cutting

Weygandt Law has been an active member of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce since January 2018. In April, a large group of family, friends, and the business community gathered for a ribbon cutting celebration, which commemorated its new office space at 26118 Oak Ridge Drive. David shares this office with Kodie McCuller, his Client Services Representative. Kodie is responsible for making the entire client experience–from start to finish–a personal & professional one. Kodie helps with both sides of David’s practice, from the proactive (business and estate planning) to the reactive (litigation and probate matters).

Learn more about Weygandt Law at www.WeygandtLaw.com or follow his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WeygandtLaw. Call (713) 489-5900 to schedule an appointment or schedule a free 15-minute call with David online.

Conroe, TX (May 3, 2021) –Developer, Curtis Lindsey, President and CEO of Lindsey Commercial Properties, had a vision over 5 years ago of improving the property once owned by Wedgewood Golf Club into a venue the City of Conroe would welcome into the community.

Lindsey Commercial Properties originally purchased the driving range.  Partnering with Jeff Farmer, CEO of Spectra Properties Inc. and Norma Upshur, Managing Member of the ownership, they purchased additional land for the facility and the surrounding area to enhance the serene environment for the community for a total of 72 acres and the luxury living community with fantastic views from the highest point in Conroe will take up 26 acres and be more than 135,000 square feet- truly mansion size. And it is pet friendly!

“I worked with 3 mayors of Conroe, Conroe City Council, the surrounding HOA communities, and the residents in the area to make Worthington Manor a part of something they all can be proud of and welcome to the community to make a positive impact on their lives”, said Lindsey. “Future development plans include an Independent Living and medical offices. We will generate 75 jobs at our beautiful community for seniors to live”.

The community of Worthington Manor will provide a sense of belonging for the active adults residing there.

Norma Upshur said,” As we age, we want to feel as if we belong, to be part of a community. It is important for our self-worth to integrate into a community, a group, and be around people we trust. Worthington Manor hopes to meet the goals of the seniors and the community. Families are always welcome with multiple gathering areas and dining venues for encouraging intimate intergenerational communication.”

Opening November of 2021, Worthington Manor will be managed by Insight Senior Living LLC with 72 assisted living apartments and 46 memory care beds. Residents can choose from 5 floor plans ranging from a studio apartment to a 2-bedroom unit. Apartments will include 9 ft ceilings, custom cabinets, granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances, and individual HVAC systems. Some units may have private patios and laundry facilities, tile in bathroom and wood look flooring throughout the living areas.

Amenities will include a full-service bar, a Cybercafé, Al Fresco Dining, an Exercise Studio, an Art Studio, a Game Room, Library, Poker Room, a Full-Service Spa including Hair Salon, Manicures, Pedicure and Massage Rooms. The development plan includes a dine-in movie theater, a demonstration kitchen for Culinary Classes and chef demonstrations, and a dog park.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on Thursday, April 29 with Mayor Jody Czajkoski, Mayor Pro-Tem Raymond McDonald, Councilman Duke Coon, Councilman Todd Yancy, Councilman Curt Maddox, Curtis Lindsey, Jeff Farmer, and Norma Upshur. Later that afternoon a public Open House was held for the community and senior living industry individuals to explore information about Worthington Manor.

Jeff Farmer concluded the celebration event with a resonating statement. “I wouldn’t build anything I wouldn’t put my own mama in”.  That pretty much says it all.

The Woodlands, TX (April 29, 2021) – All of us know someone that has experienced Covid -19 in the last year. Individuals do not have to have co-mobilities or any pre-existing conditions to get a severe case of the virus. As we know individuals that are asymptomatic can be carriers without displaying any symptoms or fever. People of all ages have been hospitalized or even faced death due to the coronavirus.

Fortunately, with Operation Warp Speed the Covid vaccine research was expedited with two manufacturers taking the lead- Pfizer and Moderna. The technology does not use a live virus as other vaccines, but instead encoded a messenger RNA or (mRNA) with information producing the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. SARS is Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. Since the spike protein is foreign to our bodies any serious side effects from the vaccine can occur within 15 minutes of onset. The positive approach is that the mRNA inherent in the vaccine is valuable for producing antibodies.

The first doses were given to selected healthcare workers and elderly people living in residential care in early January. Phase 1 included essential workers and elderly over 75 years of age. 1c allowed 65–74-year-old seniors and those individuals 16-64 years of age with conditions that could be life threatening if they were to be infected with Covid-19. Currently any individual 18 and older can receive the vaccine free of charge.

ARCPoint Labs of The Woodlands is offering the Covid vaccine in a safe, quiet, and clean location where individuals can either make an appointment or walk-in to receive the Moderna vaccine. Moderna is known to be 95% effective against infection or any severe cases of the virus. Located at 2520 Research Forest Drive, Suite 400 in the Woodlands, near Sonic Drive-In, there will not be any waiting in your car looping around the stadium. Everyone must wait 15 minutes after they receive the vaccine to make sure there are not any side effects. And you can make an appointment for the 2nd vaccine before you leave.

Kathleen Buckland is the owner of ARCPoint Labs of The Woodlands. Although ARCPoint Labs has been operational for over twenty years, her location in The Woodlands recently opened in October of 2020.

“We all want to get back to the new normal and vaccines can help us do that.  My team and I want to do our part in providing the community with piece of mind.  We will be here for follow up and to answer any questions and provide follow-up antibody testing if our clients desire.”

Vaccine supply is limited.  Once distributed to a location the Moderna vaccine must be kept refrigerated (36-46 degrees) and used within 5 days. The vaccine is the answer to opening all our normal life activities safely and effectively. Currently there is no evidence of herd immunity through natural exposure to the virus.

“We want the community to know our staff is knowledgeable and will be around to continue to serve the community for the long run”, said Buckland. “Our services include antibody testing, health and wellness testing, allergy or food sensitivity testing, and DNA testing. Small business send staff to our facility for drug/alcohol testing for new hires or random screenings as a program management tool. We also offer onsite services or concierge services for individuals or businesses. Many services do not require a doctor order”.

Garrett Faircloth left this review:

“Great Service! I cannot recommend this place enough. They were fast, friendly, and went above and beyond. I’d definitely go back.”

We all want to get back to life before Covid. Vaccinations can help.

This fabulous event will be held in person on Friday, May 14, 2021 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott with the silent auction and mimosas starting at 10:00 AM.

The Legacy Luncheon is an opportunity for Community Assistance Center (CAC) to recognize local community members who serve as champions for CAC and make significant contributions to our Montgomery County neighbors in need along with promoting the programs and services provided by this vital agency. The event will honor local leaders, business partners, faith partners, fellow service organizations, and the amazing power of volunteers. Among the honorees include Legacy Award Recipient-Commissioner Pct. 1 Mike Meador (Ret.), Buckalew Chevrolet, Woodforest National Bank, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Montgomery County Food Bank, and volunteers Paula Odom, and Beverly and Mac Schard.

Community Assistance Center (CAC) welcomes Liz Murray, Co-Founder & Executive Director of The Arthur Project, to be featured as the event’s keynote speaker. Liz Murray’s life is a triumph over adversity and a stunning example of the importance of dreaming big. Murray was raised in the Bronx by two loving but drug-addicted parents. She grew up in poverty, often without enough food, chronically absent from school and most of all, struggling to connect her education to a viable future. By age 15, Murray’s mom had died, and she was homeless- living on the streets, riding the subway all night, and eating from dumpsters. Amidst this pain, Murray always imagined her life could be much better than it was. Determined to take charge of her life, and with the support of an upstairs neighbor and trusted family friend named Arthur, Murray finished high school in just two years and was awarded a full scholarship to Harvard University, all while camping out in New York City parks and subway stations.

Today, Murray is a passionate advocate for underserved youth. Murray graduated from Harvard in 2009 and received her master’s degree in Education Psychology at Columbia University. She is passionate about speaking on the importance of personal motivation, transforming problems into opportunities, and what it takes to make a difference in people’s lives.

As one of two major fundraisers for Community Assistance Center (CAC), the Legacy Luncheon continues to be an inspiring event celebrating service to our community and generating funding to support the many programs and services provided by the organization. In celebration of the CAC’s 40th anniversary, the organization has provided the special opportunity for Ruby Anniversary Sponsorships that will significantly help CAC meet the increased need brought on by COVID-19 and prepare for future growth of the organization. A special thank you to each of the 2021 Ruby Sponsors, which include America’s ER and Urgent Care, Buckalew Chevrolet, Entergy Texas, Friends of CAC, Linde, The Tripathy Family, Waste Connections, Woodforest National Bank, The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church, and Zters. In addition, the 2021 Legacy Advocate Sponsors are HEB and Wiesner Auto Group.

“Since 1981, we have served our neighbors in need and will continue to meet the growing needs of Montgomery County. I am excited to play a small part in this organization’s history,” said Jennifer Landers, CEO of Community Assistance Center.

Proceeds from this special event will support Community Assistance Center (CAC) programs that provide immediate basic needs, financial assistance, and case management services, promoting self-sufficiency for individuals and families throughout all of Montgomery County who are struggling through times of crisis.

Cleveland, TX (April 19, 2021) – Outward appearances do not always tell the story. When you first see the 1956 Chevy parked in the front of a building from 1912, you know there is a story. Dan’s Guitars and Music has been in Cleveland since 2006, owned and operated by Dan Kiblinger with over 35 years in the music industry.

Dan’s Guitars has a large collection of vintage guitars they buy, sell, restore, and repair from collectors, rock artists, country artists, and even recovered from floods. As Dan shared, “I have a guitar that was discovered under water after Hurricane Katrina that was discovered in many pieces. After letting it procure and dry out for a year, I worked on sanding it down, leveraging all the pieces together, and then actually playing it to ensure the sound quality. It sounds great!”

Dan opened a vintage guitar business in 1987 in North Houston at Airline and Tidwell, “Airline Vintage Guitar”. His store was known throughout the country by iconic rock musicians that have maintained a relationship with him over the many years he has been in business. His reputation of creating and restoring valuable guitars is passed down through several generations of guitar musicians.

Every couple of weeks a familiar face comes into the store.  It may take a few minutes for Dan to realize where the customer knows him and his legendary guitars since his presence is huge in the music business. Kiblinger has a personal collection of 40-75 guitars that waiver as he collects and sells from his own personal supply. His oldest guitar is a vintage iconic 1938 Gibson hand-carved L-5 that has been in his possession for over thirty years. Authentic vintage guitar labels in the store include Gibson, Fender, Gretsch, and Rickenbacker. The collection at the store varies weekly, and best part is seeing customers come in, grab a guitar, and see how the sound resonates.

“Every guitar has a personality. Appearance, wear, and feel are important, although the more the guitar is played, the better the sound. The strings vibrate until they find their sweet spot”, said Dan. Iconic guitars can last for generations as long as they are played.

Earlier this year Dan started a partnership with long-time friend Jeff Spike Wong (JSW) whom he has known since 1982 while Dan was employed with H/H Music at Northwest Mall in Houston and Jeff was 15. Wong frequented the store often throughout his years as a young adult.

Stepping backwards to the history of JSW he was always interested in music and played several instruments before becoming a guitar player. His favorite book from his youth “The Guitar Book- A Handbook for Electric and Acoustic Guitarists along with Rock legend Eddie Van Halen influenced Jeff tremendously. Jeff was in several garage bands while in high school when he started to play professional shows for pay. When Jeff was 19, he was asked to be a fulltime member of a band called “Ripper” (theatrical make-up like KISS with heavy metal) playing sold out venues at Cardi’s in Houston.

In 1987 Wong moved to LA and was employed with Warner/Elektra/Atlantic, (a distribution division of Warner Bros) involved in music distribution and promotion through the mid 90’s. He was playing Southern California clubs regularly with the band, “Ambush”. Ambush played the L.A. Sunset Strip circuit (Whiskey-A- Go-Go, The Roxy) and released a CD. In 1999 Wong joined Rickenbacker International Corporation to build iconic Rickenbacker guitars and basses. His employment in music continued with experience working with audio engineering at Private Island Trax in Hollywood, and eventually becoming a certified sales representative for the largest dealership for Steinway & Sons.

This was great learning experience for Jeff Spike Wong who by this time had experience as a performer, a music teacher, music production, distribution, and audio engineering.  Moving back to Houston in 2004, Jeff started his own film production company, Golden Westwinds Production. He has produced two Blues documentaries and is presently working on a documentary “Classical Music vs Heavy Metal” with Dr. Yan Shen, a concert pianist with a Doctoral degree in Music and Piano from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music and Rusty Cooley, a guitarist well known for his refined guitar technique of ‘shredding”.  In 2016 JSW became Director of Artists Relations for Kawai Piano Gallery.

Jeff resides in The Woodlands, Texas and has a personal collection of 40-60 guitars. In 2020, Jeff had a very vast collection of vintage guitars and decided to connect with Dan to sell some of his guitars for others to enjoy. In 2021 they started their partnership with vintage guitars from the Signature Series of Gibson Guitars and brands including Fender, Rickenbacker, and Gretsch. The Gibson signature series, such as Billy Gibbbon’s Goldtop, is reproduced to match his true vintage 57 Goldtop guitar. The limited-edition guitars do not disappoint vintage guitar enthusiasts.

The hope is to let everyone know about the “Coolest place for a unique and memorable experience” at the small guitar store in Cleveland, Texas. Dan’s Guitar and Music is located at 112 W. Houston in Cleveland. Open 10:00am until 6:00pm if you want to talk to Dan give him a call at (281) 592-2000.

“My repeat customers include local Texas recording country artist Josh Ward from Montgomery, and Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top”, said Dan Kiblinger. “Credibility is everything in this business. If the guitars could talk what a story they would tell! Sharing the legendary guitars to generations of people is exciting. How many people will own a single guitar?”

According to Wong, “We want collectors and other guitar players to be able to come to the shop, share stories, and experience playing a guitar they may have only heard about.”
